It is important to us, our advisors, and the grant making community as a whole that every phase of our proposed process must always be open in at least two key senses:

1. All plausible participants must feel comfortable participating, including foundation grants management and technology professionals, grantee communities, consultants, commercial vendors, and other funding experts (e.g., governmental, international, and corporate granting agencies).



2. All of the intellectual property produced during each phase of our process will be shared freely with the grant-making community. Thus, the analyses from this Discovery Phase be made available under open licenses (e.g., Creative Commons licenses or appropriate open source licenses). Consequently, any member of the community, including individual foundations and commercial vendors, will be able to make full use of these efforts for the common good.
